Makalu Base Camp Trek is famous among travelers who love to travel solo, observe nature, and experience unique culture at the same time. This trekking trail leads you to the lap of the world’s 5th highest mountain, Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), crossing unfamiliar and secluded villages where you will see rich traditions and culture along with the daily lifestyle of local inhabitants. This region is economically poor and isolated, but has successfully preserved its ancient customs & values along with rare wildlife and flora. The lower part of the valley is the home of Sherpa, Rai, and Shingsawa (Bhotia) farmers. Makalu region comes under the restricted areas of Nepal, therefore to go on this trek you will also need to get restricted area permits from the Nepal government.

Makalu Base Camp Trek passes through the Makalu Barun National Park, which makes the journey wild and adventures. The trail passes through a lush green area, which is the habitat of numerous species of birds including some rare birds and 75 species of mammals including snow-leopard, red panda, and musk deer. The lower region of the park is filled with beautiful rhododendron forests, while the upper region includes stunning waterfalls, hanging glaciers, and superb granite cliffs. This blend of natural elements presents you with a very distinctive Himalayan landscape. You will see panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Chamlang (7,319 m), Mt. Baruntse (7,129 m), and many other snow-capped mountains.

During the 21 days Makalu Base Camp Trek, you will reach Arun Valley, which is acknowledged as the last stronghold of the eastern Himalayan eco-system. With numerous steep ascents & descents, passing by alpine lakes, glaciers, and valleys, you will reach high up in one of the extremely remote areas of Nepal. This region provides wonderful views of nature and natural wonders and is an adventurous and thrilling trek. We, Snowland Adventure has professionally designed our Makalu Base Camp Trek itinerary with steady ascents and enough acclimatization days to make the journey a great experience. We are a team of experienced and caring members and assure you that with us you can complete this trip without any issues.

Note:

Due to global warming, the weather in the mountain and hilly region has become more unpredicatble. Because of this, we are facing some problems with bad weather, heavy rainfall, landslides, blocked highways and flight delays or cancellations for a day. Sometimes because of the road traffic, we cannot arrive on time. It may happen at any time of the year because we cannot predict the weather conditions and other situations. Therefore, if possible, we would like to suggest adding an extra supplementary day before your return international flight. If everything is going well, you have a beautiful day to visit any interesting place in the historical city.
